For the past four years, I’ve served as the Student Assistant for Miami University’s Performing Arts Series, where I’ve led the digital presence across Instagram, Facebook, TikTok, and the official website. From building content calendars to executing engaging campaigns, I’ve played a key role in shaping the online voice of a vibrant, arts-driven community.

Problems

As PAS emerged from the COVID-19 pandemic, it faced significant challenges in reconnecting with its core audience: students. The organization struggled to regain visibility and engagement across campus, leading to three key problems:

Key Takeaways

Use your target audience as anchor

By anchoring every decision, from content strategy to tone of voice and platform choice, around the needs, interests, and behaviors of our student audience, we were able to rebuild connection and drive real engagement. This meant shifting away from generic promotional posts and instead creating content that spoke directly to student life, culture, and values. Keeping the audience at the core ensured that our messaging not only reached them, but resonated with them.
